24 hour gym for Port Lincoln Leisure Centre
The Port Lincoln community now has the benefit of more flexible exercise options with the Port Lincoln Leisure Centre gym launching 24 hour access.
The centre, which is open seven days per week, has undergone a significant upgrade over the last 12 months and joins the growing number of YMCA South Australia managed gyms to undergo conversion to the 24 hour format.
YMCA Regional Development Manager, Craig Hortin, said the move to 24-7 gym access was in line with a shift in community expectations around the availability of exercise facilities.
“Better community accessibility is the goal with the move to 24 hours,” he said. “The 24 hour model used to be seen as a cheaper, low-service option, but has now become an expectation to the majority of gym users.”
“This is in line with accessibility and having flexible choices is becoming a way of life for many people, especially those who are time-poor or work outside normal hours.”
“The YMCA aims to help people become healthier and happier so removing barriers to entry and providing options that suit all lifestyles is important,” said Mr Hortin.
The centre has undergone a comprehensive risk assessment and members have been provided with individual access tokens that include safety measures for times that the gym is unstaffed.
“We want to encourage everyone to be more active so providing 24 hour access to a safe and secure environment will help achieve this,” Mr Hortin added.
