Port Lincoln Leisure Centre Nominated for National Award

Fitness Australia, the national peak industry association, has announced the Port Lincoln Leisure Centre is a Quality Accredited Fitness Business of the Year Finalist in the 2020 Australian Fitness Awards.

CEO of Fitness Australia, Barrie Elvish, explains that the Australian Fitness Awards provide a great opportunity for businesses and individuals to be acknowledged for their contribution to the industry and the impact they have in their communities.

“Every finalist has shown incredible commitment to supporting those in their communities to live an active lifestyle, whether it is through professional development to ensure they are providing clients with safe and quality services, or creating community programs which break down barriers to participation and encourage involvement across a diverse range of different groups,” he said.

The Quality Accredited Business of the Year is the highest award available for fitness businesses. It is awarded to the Centre which receives the highest accreditation score as assessed by Improvement Foundation and endorsed by the Fitness Industry Standards Council and Fitness Australia Board.

Port Lincoln Leisure Centre Manager, Anna Ryan, said that being nominated as a finalist for Business of the Year was an honour.

“Our YMCA staff team is 100 per cent from the local community and the nomination is testament to their dedication to excellence and delivering a Centre which is well used and loved by that community,” she said.

The 2020 Australian Fitness Awards include 10 awards categories, covering emerging exercise professionals, individuals delivering exercise, businesses providing fitness services and community exercise programs.

National winners will be announced at an event in Sydney on Friday, 1 May. To learn more visit awards.fitness.org.au
